Exhibition! (I know, kinda early for this, but here it is!)
For exhibition, we held a panel at High Tech High International. Our panel was on Cyber Security, and I was the moderator. Being moderator, I had to do a lot of research on the topic. The thing that I think were interesting is how hackers can get into your personal devices, whether it be through your fridge or Alexa. They do this by following pathways that link two devices and can sneak in, get your data, and book it. In my opinion, all my research has made me a lot more cautious on how I treat my personal data.
Even though Cyber Security is a pressing issue, we held this panel to address issues that would be addressed in the election. Along with our panel research, we learned a lot about PACs and Super PACs, which was really interesting. We discussed the Electoral College, and how their power should be limited. We thought that the people's total vote should be what determines the president, not the "capturing" of states. We also made a survey about voter turnout, and I sent mine out on Facebook. I got a lot of response, and a lot of them were interesting in response.
I learned a lot about Cyber Security in my research, enough to make me think twice on picking up a flash drive or connecting to an unknown wifi network. This is mostly because flash drives can be programmed to take all of your information and send it to a remote server, all in a matter of seconds. Crazy stuff, and making me super cautious about everything now.
Being moderator, I had to touch up on everything, and that has made me substantially more knowledgeable on the topic, and impacted my views of even going on the internet in general, as I would not like my information to be pirated. I also think that I will be voting as an adult, because one thing in my voter turnout survey was talking about how if even a few people don't vote, it could affect the country. So, even if all the presidential candidates suck, I will still do my job as a citizen.
